Seniors Ally Nickel and Abby Nickel, junior Megan Bonikowske, freshman Riley Pechinski and senior Leah Earnest from the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) girls golf team talk about qualifying for the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament, following the Sectional Tournament at the Stevens Point Country Club Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Abby Nickel tied for third overall at the Sectional with an 85, Pechinski was seventh with an 88, Ally Nickel placed eighth with an 89, and Bonikowske and Earnest each shot a 101 to send SPASH to state for the second time in program history.

The Panthers finished with a total of 363 to place second at the Sectional behind Tomah (360), and earn a trip to state over a pair of State Qualifiers from a year ago in Onalaska (372) and New Richmond (376).
