Plover Talk: A weekly update with Ryan Kernosky

Community Development Administrator Ryan Kernosky met with Gazette staff to give his weekly update on everything Plover. Kernosky touched on his replacement and a new restaurant in the village.
Plover to appoint new CDD
Kernosky said that village leaders would officially appoint his replacement at a board meeting on Oct. 15. Steve Kunst will be filling Kernosky’s role as Plover’s community development director (CDD). Kunst currently serves as Rib Mountain’s CDD. He has also served as a Portage County Board planner.
“Steve is very familiar with the area,” Kernosky said. “He lives in Stevens Point with his family.”
Kernosky will be leaving the village to serve as the CDD of Stevens Point, starting on Nov. 1. Kernosky added the village would have an interim period without a CDD, noting that Kunst begins on Nov. 8.
“I will still help the village during that time,” Kernosky said. “I’ll be working with Steve as much as he needs me to and help him get into the role as much as possible.”
El Molcajete
After several delays, El Molcajete is slated to open the week of Oct. 21.
The Mexican restaurant is located within the Crossroad Commons at 160 Meridian Drive, Plover.
“They are working with the village,” Kernosky said. “They just order their foods and should be open sometime next week.”
The restaurant was initially scheduled to open in July. Kernosky is excited to see the development move forward.
