Willis, SPASH girls capture Conference Titles

The 19th-ranked Panthers girls cross country team won the WVC Meet at Merrill Saturday, Oct. 19, as sophomore Roisin Willis won the Individual Title.
The Panthers finished with 33 points to beat Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln (56) and Marshfield (77), and win the WVC Title for the second year in a row and the seventh time in eight years.
Willis won the Individual Title for the second year in a row, as she finished in 17:48.7, and senior Maddie Hyland placed second in 19:08.8.
Junior Sara Hopper was ninth, freshman Brittany Beadles placed 10th and sophomore Autumn Itzen finished 11th to give SPASH five runners in the Top 11, followed by sophomore Emelia Johnson (19th), sophomore Josie Reeve (32nd) and freshman Shayla Kvatek (53rd).
The Panthers will compete in the WIAA Division 1 Sectional at Standing Rocks County Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, as they look to advance to state for the fourth year in a row and the seventh time in eight years.
