The Nutcracker, Jazzed! to be held Nov. 16-17

STEVENS POINT – “The Nutcracker, Jazzed! – a fundraiser supporting the Arts & Culture Mission Fund held at the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin – provides annual grants to non-profit arts and culture organizations throughout Portage County.
Performances will be held Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 17, at 2 p.m., at Sentry Theater, 1800 Northpoint Dr., Stevens Point.
This year’s event will feature a jazz variation of the holiday classic “Nutcracker Ballet.” The community production features the Central Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble, Point Dance Ensemble, and other area dance and theater organizations.
Directors for the production are Pamela Luedtke, artistic director of Point Dance Ensemble, and Kayla Dunn, director of Transcribing Dance Company. Jenna Dove, dance instructor at the Rapids School of Performing Arts, is co-director. Lighting is designed by Dave Carlson and sets are designed by the late Linda Martin-Moore.
Choreography and groups participating include: Point Dance Ensemble, Transcribing Dance Company, Dance Dynamics, Forthcoming Danspace, Rapids School of Performing Arts, Learn & Love It Dance Classes, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Dance Professor Jeannie Hill, Pacelli Poms Group, STORM Elite Cheerleading, Boys & Girls Club of Plover/Whiting, Croi Croga, Whimszy Hoops, Shuvani Tribal Dance, and Performing School of the Arts.
