UWSP women’s soccer receives NCAA Tournament bid

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) women’s soccer team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament this week.
The Pointers (11-4-3) will compete in the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time overall and for the first time since 2010, as they will travel to St. Louis, Mo., for the Washington University Regional to take on Adrian (Mich.) (16-4-2) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
UWSP was the second seed in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament last week was tied 1-1 with UW-La Crosse at the end of double overtime in the WIAC Semifinals Thursday, Nov. 7, before the Pointers lost 3-0 on penalty kicks at Community Stadium at Goerke Field.
UWSP received one of 21 at-large bids to the 64-team NCAA Tournament and will open against Adrian, with the winner to play third-ranked Washington (15-1-2) or Maryville (Tenn.) (15-4) at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.
The winner of that will move on to Sectionals, which will take place Nov. 22 and 24 at campus sites to be determined.
