PORTAGE COUNTY – Area residents were advised to stay indoors as the winter’s first powerful storm pushed through the central Wisconsin area Nov. 29 – Dec. 1.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wood, Portage, and Waupaca County, lasting until Dec. 1 at 6 p.m.
While snowfall predictions reached as high as 12 inches in some parts of the state, most Portage County residents only had to battle around two to five inches of fresh powder, according to NWS reports.
Freezing conditions also left some slippery conditions in the area, but Portage County is now blanketed by the sparkling flakes, offering locals a festive landscape for the coming holiday season.
