One week after cutting over $1.2 million from its budget to address a projected $7.4 million shortfall for next year’s budget, the Stevens Point Area School Board trimmed another $2.2 million from its budget.

No new year has received more hoopla than 2000. For more than a year, we’ve been bombarded with the issue of Y2K. As a result, many people won’t be able to enjoy the tradition, as they’ll be on call amidst fears that computers will fail.
The Portage County Historical Society will be richer by $100,000, if it can raise $50,000 to match a similar amount earmarked for the society in Wisconsin’s state budget.
The Pacelli boys basketball team stunned defending WIAA Division 2 state runner-up Adams-Friendship, 46-35, in the final game of the opening day in the 28th annual Sentry Holiday Classic at Quandt Fieldhouse.
