STEVENS POINT — After missing most of last season due to a knee injury, former Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) standout Trevor Anderson has been a regular for the NCAA Division 1 University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team this season.
The 6-2 redshirt junior point guard has played in all 11 games off the bench for the Badgers, who went into Christmas with a 6-5 record this season.
Anderson helped lead SPASH to back-to-back WIAA Division 1 State Titles as a junior and senior in 2015 and 2016, as he finished his career eighth on the all-time scoring list in Wisconsin high school history, and was named the Associated Press State Player of the Year in 2016, when he was named co-Mr. Basketball for Wisconsin along with SPASH teammate Sam Hauser.
Anderson received a scholarship to play at NCAA Division 1 UW-Green Bay (UWGB) and started as a freshman in 2016-17, where he averaged 9.8 points and 2.7 assists per game, before he decided to transfer to Wisconsin.
After redshirting the 2017-18 season as a transfer, Anderson averaged 1.6 points in eight games last season as a redshirt sophomore for the Badgers, before he suffered a season-ending knee injury in a 72-66 win at Iowa Nov. 30.
He has returned to be a part of the rotation for Wisconsin this season and is averaging 2.0 points per game, and ranks third on the team with 15 assists and is eighth with 11.5 minutes per game.
The Badgers were scheduled to travel to Tennessee on Dec. 28, and host Rider Dec. 31, before they return to Big Ten play at second-ranked Ohio State on Jan. 3 at 6 p.m.
