STEVENS POINT – During the Jan. 3 SPASH home game against Merrill, senior Leah Earnest broke the single game scoring record for Panther girls basketball. Her 41 points broke her own record, which she set last season.
Earnest’s 41 points consisted of 18 field goals of which one was a 3-pointer. She also made four free throws.
Coach Kraig Terpstra says of Earnest, “Leah can really score. She scores in many ways, She can shoot from the perimeter, she can get to the rim, and she can post up. Many of her points come from transition and pure hustle.
“She is a hard working, intense player that any accomplishment she obtains is well deserved.”
In December, Earnest signed a letter of intent to play basketball for NCAA Division 1 Valparaiso University.
