The blank brick wall in the walkway between Main and Clark streets at the Portage County Library has been transformed into a timeline of the first 150 years of the history of Stevens Point.
Rick Flugaur, partner in the Stevens Point law firm of Anderson, O’Brien, Bertz, Skrenes, & Golla, will be presented the 2009 President’s Award by the Portage County Business Council.
UWSP will honor the founder of UWSP wrestling, coach John Roberts, by naming its soon-to-be renovated wrestling facility in his honor.
10 years ago – January 14, 2000
Demolition of the Clark Street bridge won’t start until March 20, giving the existing structure about three more weeks of use.
Stevens Point Area Public School District officials will voice their opposition to a required state high school graduation test. Board members voted unanimously to oppose a resolution stating the “Wisconsin Association of School Boards supports a state high school graduation test that may be used as one factor in awarding a local diploma.”
Joseph Adamski, a sixth grade student at St. Peter Middle School, won the school level competition of the National Geography Bee on Jan. 6.
