Central Wisconsin WIAC athletes recognized; Fravert named men’s basketball athlete of the week

MADISON – Several central Wisconsin athletes were highlighted through the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week program for Dec. 16 – Jan. 5.
In men’s basketball, Adam Fravert (Marshfield) senior forward at UW-Oshkosh was named Athlete of the Week.
Fravert averaged 21.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists during UW-Oshkosh’s four games played Dec. 16 – Jan. 5. Fravert compiled 87 points by shooting 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the field and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) at the free-throw line. He made 14-of-31 (45.2 percent) three-point shots, while totaling 35 rebounds (30 defensive), 17 assists, six steals, and six blocked shots.
The Titans compiled a 2-2 record during the four games, including a 93-76 neutral-court victory over LaGrange College (Ga.) on Dec. 30, and a 79-63 home win over previously unbeaten and nationally ranked UW-La Crosse on Jan. 4.
UW-Oshkosh also lost road decisions of 96-95 (overtime) to St. Norbert College (Wis.) on Dec. 17, and 87-80 to nationally ranked Emory University (Ga.) on Dec. 29. Fravert became the first Titan since the 2002-03 season to score 30-plus points in consecutive games when he tallied 30 against Emory University and a career-high 37 against LaGrange College. In UW-Oshkosh’s loss to Emory University, Fravert tallied 30 points by shooting 12-of-23 from the field and 2-of-4 at the free-throw line. He made 4-of-10 three-point shots, while totaling eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.
During the Titans’ win over LaGrange College, Fravert accumulated 37 points by shooting 15-of-23 from the field and 2-of-4 at the free-throw line. He made 4-of-10 three-point shots, while totaling eight rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots.
Fravert also scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and six assists during UW-Oshkosh’s overtime loss to St. Norbert College. He shot 5-of-12 from the field (five 3-point baskets) against the Green Knights and 3-of-4 at the free-throw line.
Other athletes recognized
UW-Stevens Point’s (UWSP) Ethan Bublitz, senior guard, of Jackson, was also nominated in men’s basketball.
Nominated for women’s basketball was UWSP sophomore guard, Amber Baehman, of Plainfield, while UWSP freshman forward, Kiley Hahner, of Wausau, was nominated for women’s hockey. UWSP freshman, Owen Powell, of Olney, IL, was received a nod in men’s swimming.
