STEVENS POINT – The SPASH Key Club is working to send 96 care packages to deployed military personnel, to touch the lives of those serving our country.
“Members of the military have totally uprooted their lives for our safety and security,” said SPASH Key Club Adviser Carol Colby. “We need to remind them that miles don’t erase memories or diminish connections. This is also a great way for people who want to do something to get involved. Finally, it’s a great experience for the club members to learn how to pull together a major project.”
The SPASH Key Club is a high school service group that assists with a variety of projects “in an effort to better our local and global community.”
This is the first time the club is hosting the care package project.
The group plans to packages boxes that contain snacks and personal care products and send them out in March.
“Hopefully the end of March; (we) will have fundraising until March 13 then order products,” Colby added.
The club is looking for product and monetary donations, with 100 percent of funds devoted to the project.
Donations can be made to: Carol Colby, SPASH Key Club, 1201 North Point Dr., Stevens Point, WI, 54481.
