UWSP jazz festival
11:45 a.m.
Jazz trumpeter Wallace Roney will bring his quintet to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as part of their annual Jazz Festival.
The band will perform on Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m., in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point.
The public performance caps a day of jazz study by hundreds of high school and middle school students from around Wisconsin, sponsored by the UW-Stevens Point Department of Music. The public may attend faculty master classes held from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. that day, and a question-answer session with the quintet from 3-4 p.m. in Michelsen Hall.

Museum of Natural History Story Time
10-11 a.m.
UWSP Museum of Natural History, Albertson Hall, University Library, 900 Reserve St., Stevens Point.
Join the staff at the UW-Stevens Point Museum of Natural History every Friday, as they read some nature or wildlife-themed children’s books and do some crafts and activities related to that week’s theme.
Stories and activities are geared toward children ages 2-5, but anyone is welcome to join us. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The Arts Bash 2020 Spectacle
7-10 p.m.
Celebrate creativity in the visual arts, design, dance and theater while raising funds for student scholarships and arts programs at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Headlining the event is Nick Reising, a 2013 theatre design and technology and business alumnus who is the director of development for the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
The event will be held at the UW-Stevens Point Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage Street. Expressive attire is encouraged.

Central Wisconsin Polar Plunge 2020
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Special Olympics Wisconsin will raise funds for athletes in the new format of a Pool Plunge at Ridges Golf Course.
The event will take place at the Ridges Golf Course & Banquet Facility, 2311 Griffith Ave, Wisconsin Rapids.

UWSP planetarium presentations on the night sky
2 p.m.
Find the answers at “Clouds of Fire – The Creation of Stars,” a show at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Allen F. Blocher Planetarium at 2 p.m. on the Sundays of Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23 and March 1 and 8.
On Monday evenings, the “Night Sky” program is offered at 8 p.m. in the planetarium to look in detail at objects in the current night sky.
The planetarium and observatory are located on the second and fourth floor of the UW-Stevens Point Science Building at the corner of Reserve Street and Fourth Avenue. Parking is available in Lot D behind the building and is free in all university lots after 7 p.m. and on weekends.

Exceptional Child Night
5-7 p.m.
The Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum opens the museum the first Monday of each month exclusively for families that have children with exceptional needs, including autism. The museum is available for parents and children to play together in a “less overwhelming” atmosphere.
Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum is located at 1100 Main Street, Stevens Point.

Mental Health & Dementia
2:30-4 p.m.
Dr. Art Walaszek is a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Walaszek provides care to older adults with depression, anxiety, dementia, and other mental health conditions, and teaches others to do the same.
The program will be held at the Aging & Disability Resource Center, 1519 Water Street, Stevens Point.
