Farmshed 2020 Local Food Fair
For the City Times
STEVENS POINT – The Central Rivers Farmshed will host its 2020 Local Food Fair, Feb. 8, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., at SentryWorld, 601 N. Michigan Ave., Stevens Point.
The event helps members of the community become familiar with local food sources; generates an increased demand for local and sustainable product; supports the growth and development of local farms and businesses by having them as exhibitors to sell their products or educate about their programs; and encourages a friendly competition between chefs that will have them actively seek out local ingredients to generate more points, thus connecting restaurants with farms.
This year, the fair is an official “waste conscious” event to help bring awareness to responsible recycling and composting.
Visitors can browse the “Info and Marketplace” for an opportunity to learn about, sample, and purchase products from local, sustainable farms, businesses, and organizations. If you are 21 or over, you can also enjoy the “Craft Beverage Corner” and sample local brews, wines, or liquors.
After some shopping and sipping, get a real taste of Wisconsin with our “Farm to Fork Chef” competition. Restaurants go head-to-head to create the most creative and delectable locally sourced potato dish. Vote for your favorites to help them win the People’s Choice award.
There will also be a kids’ area with engaging activities and crafts for the whole family.
