STEVENS POINT – The store that began as a place for J.D. Manville to display and sell the items in his own collection has become a hot spot for hobbyists.

“I’ve always been a wargamer,” Manville said.

He now has an entire store filled with popular activities, like “D&D fifth edition,” a popular role-playing game for youth to adult ages, to older games like “Lord of the Rings.”

From stamps to war games to magic cards, JadeCo Stamp and Hobby is filled with diorama items as well. From dragons to soldiers to tanks, any person who is ready to take on the game can find what they need.

JadeCo found its start on Clark Street in Stevens Point but has moved many times. Going from there to Division Street to a location in Plover, the business may have found a permanent home.

“We like Main Street most,” Manville added.

Manville said that people come from miles away just to find what they need, so he makes sure to keep his shelves stocked with everything in surplus amounts in items that include stamps and books that cover mostly war genres.

According to Manville, the store might have the largest collection of military hobby items in the state.

The business uses their Facebook page to show off their mascot and greeter dog, Hunter, and announce gaming events. Katelyn Voorhies photos.

JadeCo also holds events for the community. They use their Facebook page to not only show off their mascot and greeter dog, Hunter, but to tell everyone about the board gaming tournaments held regularly. The business also hosts gaming events every Sunday at 11 a.m. and other group events once or twice a week, depending on demand.

JadeCo Stamp and Hobby is located at 927 Main Street in Stevens Point.
