Two Stevens Point wrestlers take conference champ titles

STEVENS POINT – The SPASH wrestling team traveled to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School on Feb. 8 for the Wisconsin Valley Conference meet, where two of their wrestlers took home individual conference championship titles.
Justin Groshek (113) and Kale Roth (120) took home the individual WVC title for their weight brackets. Also placing for the SPASH team were: Zach Kolodziej (106) finishing in fourth; Warren Soik (126) also placing fourth; TJ (132) and Max (138) Schierl both placed third; Cooper Behnke (145) placed fifth; Conner Seavers (152) had a fourth place finish; Sam Molski (160) finished in second; Josh Kolodziej (170) finished sixth; Brett Johnston (182) placed second; and Ben Raczek (220) also had a second place finish for the Panthers.
Wisconsin Rapids placed first as a team, followed by D.C. Everest, SPASH, Wausau West, Marshfield, Merrill, and Wausau East.
WIAA Regionals will take place on Feb. 15 at D.C. Everest High School.
