PORTAGE COUNTY – The United Way of Portage County recently announced the promotion of Kelly Skeels to Community Services Coordinator.
In her new role, Skeels will continue to oversee United Way’s Learn for Life second and third grade reading program by recruiting and training volunteer reading tutors while utilizing evaluation tools for assessing the success of the program. In addition to Learn for Life, Skeels will be taking on the responsibilities of United Way’s Volunteer Center. This includes coordinating events such as Make a Difference Day, Project Fresh Start, the Community Diaper Drive, and promoting volunteerism and 2-1-1 through businesses and organizations in Portage County.
A Plover native, Skeels graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in 2017. She has been with United Way for over two years, and previously served as a United Way intern the four summers. As an intern for United Way, Skeels assisted with the Volunteer Center events and she is eager to now take full responsibility.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working with such a dedicated group of volunteers, businesses, and organizations in this community.” said Skeels. “Their support is truly what makes Portage County such a great place to live.”
