Portage County farmers celebrated during February event

AMHERST – In February, over 130 Portage County farmers gathered together at the Jensen Community Center in Amherst for “Farmer Appreciation Night.”

Greeted by Amherst FFA chapter officers, the evening presented them with the opportunity to visit informational booths, get neck/back massages, and listen to a presentation given by Jackie Carattini of the Wood County Extension on managing stress. Representative Katrina Shankland was guest speaker.
Every farmer was handed a “Thank You Farmer” card made by the Amherst elementary students.
