County passes resolution allowing municipalities to extend tax deadlines

PORTAGE COUNTY – The Portage County Board has passed a resolution allowing cities, towns, and villages the ability to extend final tax installment deadlines from July 31 to Oct. 1.
The action, which occurred at the April 21 board meeting, applies to 2019 installments to those taxpayers who have paid the first installment in full and on time.
The taxing district must pass its own resolution for it to apply. The city of Stevens Point has already passed a resolution regarding this extension.
The county resolution also extended the “settle in full” date for municipalities and tax jurisdictions from Aug. 20 to Sept. 20, whether they pass their own resolution or not.
