STEVENS POINT – Learn how area businesses have been adapting to the ever-changing economic landscape of COVID-19.
Putt-N-Play
Stevens Point’s Putt-N-Play fully shut down to the public on April 17 and has been serving takeout food from their cafe since.
“We were forced to close down the mini-golf, laser tag, arcades and RC track,” explained co-owner Aloha Seitz. “[It] has been very hard to keep incoming bills paid without income coming in.”
Seitz and her husband own and operate the local, family-oriented businesses.
Putt-N-Play was a recipient of the city’s new Emergency Grant program. Seitz noted that the additional funding was appreciated and that they hope to see further orders in place that could allow them to open up.
The Putt-N-Play Cafe is open for carryout Fridays, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Saturdays, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Emergency Order No. 36
The state’s new Emergency Order No. 36 allows retail shops or stores located in strip malls to open to five shoppers at a time while practicing social distancing guidelines.
These new changes see downtown shops – like Green Thumb Alternatives, Jadeco Hobby, and other small businesses – open to a limited number of patrons when they are ready.
“In addition to added flexibilities and steps we have already taken for businesses, this is another disciplined turn of the dial that will allow Wisconsin’s business owners to safely get back to work and Wisconsin consumers to support their favorite local spots,” said Governor Tony Evers in a recent statement announcing the order.
