Dear reader,

As you are aware, the Covid-19 pandemic and shutdown of the economy have taken an enormous toll on businesses across the State. Newspapers also are a business, and we have seen a huge decline in the advertising revenues that support this newspaper.

Many publications in other communities have shut their doors or have been bought out by money oriented and unstable hedge funds and media conglomerates. Fortunately we are still paddling our own boat. But we certainly do face some financial challenges.

Like other businesses, we have to balance our books— money going out for expenses can’t be greater than money coming in from sales. So, we need to reduce our expenses, and in some ways change the way we do business.

We nonetheless remain committed to providing you with the quality news reporting you value, giving you as much timely and relevant information as possible within our available resources. We ask that you continue to support our small yet essential newspaper with your advertising and subscription dollars.

Stay safe and healthy.
