Sex offender released in Portage County

STEVENS POINT – A man convicted of two counts of child enticement-sexual contact is being released in Portage County.
The Stevens Point Police Department said that Michael R. Rowton, 44, will be released on June 2 in Stevens Point.
Rowton was convicted of two counts child enticement in May 2002 and has served his sentence.
“Upon release from prison, Michael Rowton will be living in Stevens Point, WI. He will be placed on supervision with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC), and monitored by Sex Offender Agent Specialists with the Division of Community Corrections, in Portage County. Michael Rowton is subject to lifetime GPS monitoring,” a department release stated.
“Michael Rowton has additional conditions, but not limited to: not have any unsupervised contact with minors; not be in taverns/bars/liquor stores; and not to consume alcohol or drugs. Michael Rowton is to comply with standard sex offender rules and to cooperate with electronic monitoring, including complying with all requirements and lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.”
