STEVENS POINT – City leaders are recommending the reopening of the Donald Copps public pool, with some social distancing guidelines in place.
The recommendation was discussed at a finance committee meeting on June 8. If the common council approves, the pool could reopen as soon as July 1
New social distancing guidelines will include sanitation stations, signs reminding guests to stay separated and stay home when sick, and other distancing practices. Sneeze guards and other protective gear will be utilized by staff at cash registers and public areas.
Only 50 guests will be allowed in the pool at once, along with staff members.
Leaders noted that outdoor furniture would not be available to visitors to help reduce the risk of spreading any illness; guests would have to bring their own folding chairs and equipment.
The pool’s daily operation hours and summer schedule could change. Any changes will be publicly announced before the pool is reopened.
