STEVENS POINT – Ray Potocki was recently honored as Wisconsin’s “Marine of the Year.”
Potocki was instrumental in establishing the Marine Corps League Detachment in Wausau in 1966. Two years later, he and his brother, Stan, began meeting in Stevens Point to begin the process of organizing a detachment there; it was chartered in January 1969 by 20 members as detachment No. 350.
Ray was elected the first commandant of the Stevens Point’s Central Wisconsin Marine Corps League and has held several offices since that time. In 1972, the detachment named him “Marine of the Year.”
For 18 years, Potocki has held the position of District 2 Vice President for the Wisconsin Marine Corps League.
On June 13, Ray honored as the state’s “Marine of the Year,” at the Marine Corp League’s state convention.
