ALMOND – A man is dead after his motorcycle hit a deer in the town of Almond.

On July 24, shortly after 7 a.m., the Portage County Sheriff’s Office was notified that an injured man was lying on the road on County Highway JJ north of Brady Road.

Portage County officials say that the motorcycle operator was traveling south on County Highway JJ when he struck a deer and was ejected from the motorcycle.

The man, identified as Jakub Cieslweicz, 24, of Buena Vista, was treated at the scene by the Plover Ambulance, Plover Rescue, and Bancroft First Responders.

The Almond Fire Department set up a landing zone and the operator was flown to Marshfield Medical Center by the Spirit helicopter.

On July 25, Cieslweicz passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.
