Stevens Point-based Ellis Construction has received the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (NCWWDB) 2020 Employer of Excellence Award.
NCWWDB celebrates local employers who have supported and utilized workforce programs and resources, built its skilled workforce through transformation and innovation, and embraced collaborative community and sector workforce strategies to help build the regional economy.
“Ellis Construction partnered with NCWWDB on a Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant, helped design NCWWDB’s first pre-Apprenticeship training program and has been instrumental in bridging Youth Apprenticeships to Adult Apprenticeships in the region,” a company release said.
“Ellis has always prioritized our team members as our greatest strength and asset. The NCWWDB has given us so many tools and opportunities for partnerships to build our team, grow skill set and invest in higher wages and quality, all while building our region,” said Andrew J. Halverson, executive vice president and co-owner of Ellis Construction,
“We’ve had the chance to be assertive and get into high schools and find youth apprentices, who we have been able to successfully transition now into adult apprenticeships here at Ellis. Investing in our youth and promoting the opportunity that construction provides for careers is a key workforce strategy for Ellis.
“Our goal is to be the safest and best construction company to work for in central and northern Wisconsin and this award validates so many of our efforts.
