STEVENS POINT – A sex offender is being released into the city of Stevens Point.
Wayne Moon, 53, was convicted of three counts of second degree sexual assault of a child in Portage County in 1991. He was convicted of forgery in 2009.
Moon will be released to 209 Division Street, Stevens Point, on Nov. 24, and will transition to 1504 Water Street, Stevens Point, on Dec. 8.
“In 1990, Wayne Moon met a 14-year-old female at a local beach. The 14-year-old and her friend accepted a ride from Wayne Moon and ended up at a hotel. Wayne Moon sexually assaulted the 14-year-old in the hotel room in front of other adult males, ignoring her request to stop,” a Stevens Point Police Department release stated.
“Regarding the second victim, Wayne Moon met a 14-year-old female at a park. They ended up going to a party at an apartment where Wayne Moon held her down, removed her clothing and sexually assaulted her after she repeatedly told him to stop.
“The third victim was a 13-year-old female, who had run away from home, and she met Wayne Moon at a local festival and he offered his apartment for her to stay at. Wayne Moon forcibly removed her clothing and sexually assaulted the 13-year-old numerous times in a night.
“Wayne Moon has used the same approach to meeting teenaged girls in 2014 – he uses the scenario that he is looking for a babysitter for his child. He usually meets the girls at local parks, beaches, or festivals.”
Moon will be placed on supervision with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC), and monitored by sex offender agent specialists with the Division of Community Corrections, in Portage County. Wayne Moon is subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.
“Wayne Moon has additional conditions, but not limited to; not have any unsupervised contact with minors; not to consume drugs,” the release added. “Wayne Moon is to comply with standard sex offender rules and to cooperate with electronic monitoring, including complying with all requirements and lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.”
Moon’s current address and any change of address will be updated and available online by accessing the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry at www.widocoffenders.org.
