Update with Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza
By Taylor Hale
Mayor Mike Wiza sat down with Gazette staff to give an update on Stevens Point developments.
Wiza touched on a new play area coming to Bukolt Park and the April 2021 elections.
Bukolt Park is getting new playground equipment this spring.
The play area’s current location is prone to flooding and sits under an electric line that runs directly over the playground, raising concern from city staff.
“We update these things periodically as we need to,” Wiza said.
The city is working with the Rettler Corporation to identify new locations for the coming playground.
Nomination Papers
Candidates for opening city seats can start circulating their nomination papers beginning on Dec. 1 for the coming April elections. The opening roles include city clerk, attorney, comptroller, and alders for districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11.
Information about aldermanic district boundaries is available at stevenspoint.com/vote or from the city clerk’s office. Voting will take place on April 6.
