STEVENS POINT – A student-led community service group recently partnered with the Stevens Point Junior Woman’s Club to spread kindness throughout the community.
The Kindness Club is a student developed, student driven club which developed a little over a year ago.
The group currently has 11 members led by Kayla Skarsten, the club’s creator. The club’s mission is to promote kindness through outreach projects and community service.
The Kindness Club has created and organized numerous projects over the past year. Last winter, the group sponsored a hat-mitten-sock drive that generated over 400 items for community donation.
The Stevens Point Junior Woman’s Club, recognizing the effort and dedication of the young group, has provided funding necessary for project resources.
The current environment has created challenges for group meetings, so the tie-blanket project allowed members to work independently. The group was able to create 20 blankets, which the Junior Woman’s Club got out to those in need throughout the community.
