PORTAGE COUNTY – On Dec. 30, shortly before 1 p.m., Portage County Sheriff’s deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 54 between Corrigan Road and Lucht Road in the town of Buena Vista. There they found Jerald T. Brennan, of Watertown, who had been reported missing the day before, deceased from accident.
“The vehicle left the roadway narrowly missing a guardrail. The vehicle traveled down an embankment and into a wooded area where the vehicle became covered with trees and debris. The scene was further obscured by the recent snowfall. The crash scene and victim were later discovered by a passing motorist,” a Portage County Sheriff’s release stated.
“The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jerald T. Brennan of Watertown, WI. Jerald had been reported missing by Watertown Police Dept. on December 29, 2020. It is believed that Jerald was in the central Wisconsin area ice fishing and the crash occurred during his drive home.”
The crash and cause of death are under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Portage County Medical Examiner.
