Two Portage county men sustain serious injuries in late-night crash
The occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Robert G. Hutkowski, 53, and Cory J. Methfessel, 42.
Hutkowski has since succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

PORTAGE COUNTY – Two Portage County men sustained serious injuries following a late-night crash in the town of Almond.
On Dec. 30, shortly before midnight, Portage County deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash near the intersection of County Highway A and Second Avenue in the town of Almond.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, but during the crash the vehicle was torn into two sections and both occupants were ejected.
“The occupants of the vehicle were identified as a 53-year-old town of Pine Grove man and a 42-year-old Almond man. Both men sustained serious injuries and were med flighted to area hospitals. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash,” a department release stated.
Portage County Ambulance, Bancroft Fire, Almond Fire and EMS also responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
The condition of both men is unknown at this time.
