Baker resigns from school board position

STEVENS POINT – In a letter to Stevens Point superintendent of schools, Craig Gerlach, Trish Baker resigned her position on the Stevens Point Area Public School Board.
Baker’s appointment as Portage County Circuit Court Judge makes her ineligible to continue her service as an elected official for the district. Baker has served on the school board since 2014.
“It has been an honor to have served our community, our staff, and all the SPAPSD families in this capacity,” stated Baker in her resignation letter. “I have always believed that we improve our community by improving the education of our next generation.”
“She has been a strong advocate for students and education in our community and will be missed on the School Board,” Gerlach said. “We wish her well on this next new and exciting endeavor.”
The school board will review the application process and timeline for filling the vacancy at its Jan. 11 board meeting.
