North recognized in Palm Springs art exhibit

STEVENS POINT — Local artist and silversmith, Joan North, of Stevens Point, received fifth place in the “All Women” art exhibit through Light Space & Time Gallery in Palm Springs, CA.
North took place for her sterling and turquoise ring, “Proud Mary.”
The gallery received 1,093 entries from women artists in 37 different countries from around the world and 39 states.
All winning entries are being featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of January.
A former dean of the college of professional studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, North is now a full time silversmith whose jewelry is shown at galleries and exhibits from coast to coast.
