Transforming Lake Pacawa Park
Celebrate Plover Foundation launches fundraising campaign
For the City Times
The village of Plover and the Celebrate Plover Foundation announced the launch of the fundraising campaign for an splash pad and playground as part of the transformative Phase No, 2 Master Plan for Lake Pacawa Park.
“The goal of the project is to offer people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get outside and be active while breathing new life into Lake Pacawa Park. In addition to the nearly 6,000 square foot inclusive Splash and Play area, park improvements include an accessible canoe/kayak launch, ADA accessible fishing piers, beach improvements, a paved multiuse trail around Lake Pacawa, and a new park shelter,” a village of Plover release stated.
“This is truly going to be a community-wide effort to reinvigorate Lake Pacawa Park. After a successful fundraising campaign to develop the Bandshell at Lake Pacawa Project, there’s no doubt Plover is ready for an inclusive splash pad and playground” said Village President Tom Davies.
“The improvements proposed for Lake Pacawa Park will certainly be unique in Plover and Central Wisconsin. We know that the combination of play areas, new park shelter, walking paths, fishing piers, and the kayak launch area, along with the already constructed band shell, will draw families from surrounding areas and will to create a wonderful sense of place and renewed identity for the village,” Village Administrator Dan Mahoney added.
Seeking $2.2 Million in donations for the estimated $4.4 million project, the fundraising committee has raised over $350,000 to-date.
“All kids deserve a safe place to play,” adds Village of Plover Firefighter/Building Inspector, Eric Krug. “As a father of two young children, one with physical limitations, I am thrilled to help create a play space at Lake Pacawa that will increase inclusivity, strengthen our community, and lead to healthier kids. It is our goal that the Splash and Play at Lake Pacawa provides a special experience for all kids in our community, and you can help us attain that goal.”
Construction is slated to begin on Aug. 2, with completion planned for July 2022.
