A cool sculpture for a hot topic

STEVENS POINT – With talks of bringing a recently rejected RoboCop statue from Detroit to
Stevens Point – RoboCop actor Peter Weller’s hometown – one local resident couldn’t wait for a decision to be made, so he made his own homage to 1987’s RoboCop.
Jef Schobert, an Army veteran and founder of Snow Art Zone, created a life-size snow sculpture of the crime-stopping movie character on March 16.
Snow Art Zone is Schobert’s personal snow-sculpting project. The local artist crafts new sculptures almost daily during the winter months.
The recent March snowfall allowed Schobert to make one last sculpture as winter fades into spring. He decided to go with a hot topic in the city and craft an icy RoboCop to stand proud in his front lawn on Clarke Street.
