Pointers celebrate Coach Egner’s 700th win

STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team held a postseason celebration for head coach, Shirley Egner’s 700th career win on March 10.
Egner won her 700th game as a basketball coach in UWSP’s 74-69 win at UW-Platteville in February.
In the 32nd season at UWSP, Egner is the winningest coach in WIAC history with 561 victories to date. She guided the Pointers to the National Championship in 2002 and has been named the WIAC Coach of the Year four times.
Egner won 141 games at the high school level, including conference titles in 1985, 1986, and 1987, and state tournament appearances in 1986 and 1987 at Waunakee High School.
