Plisch turns down Point Police chief position

STEVENS POINT – University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department Assistant Chief Brent Plisch has turned down an offer to become Stevens Point’s next police chief.
The city announced his decision on March 16, after Plisch notified the city that he would decline.
A city release stated, “Mr. Plisch praised the process commissioners used to identify a new chief and said it ‘showed the dedication of the Police and Fire Commission as civic leaders.’ In his letter declining the police chief position, Mr. Plisch said there were complex reasons for his decision not to accept this position.”
The commission will put a hiatus on their search while they evaluate the civic environment, stating that they will pause and “reset so our community can re-establish itself as a place where the best and brightest progressive law enforcement minds seek out and view as a true opportunity.”
Tom Zenner will continue serving as interim chief.
