Linwood man dead in vehicle-bicycle crash

PORTAGE COUNTY – A Linwood man is dead following a vehicle-bicycle crash in the town of Carson.
On March 25, just before 8 p.m., Portage County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of County Highway HH and County Highway E South.
“Portage County deputies and other emergency medical responders were dispatched to the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed a 60-year-old male bicyclist from the town of Linwood was attempting to cross CTH HH, near CTH E (south) and failed to yield for an eastbound vehicle on CTH HH. The Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. The male bicyclist’s name isn’t being released at this time as family is still being notified. The vehicle’s operator was a 67-year-old Stevens Point man. He was the lone occupant and was not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office,” a release from Sheriff Mike Lukas stated.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Portage County Ambulance, Rudolph Fire & Rescue, Rudolph Emergency Medical Responders, Portage County Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Team, Portage County Highway Department, the Portage County Medical Examiner, and Spirit Medical Transport.
