Youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Portage County were honored April 8, during a drive-thru Youth of the Year Banquet at the Noel Group Hangar.
“Each month, the Boys and Girls Club honors a single youth at each of their locations. These youths are chosen for their exemplary leadership at the Club and are considered the Youth of the Month. At this event, each Youth of the Month was celebrated and the Youth of the Year, Ty Portzen, was honored with a $2,000 scholarship to help support his post-secondary education,” a Boys & Girls Club release stated.
”The Boys and Girls Club Junior Youth of the Year, Megan, was also celebrated as being a humble, caring person that appreciates the Boys & Girls Club’s resources.”
“We are so thankful that we are still able to celebrate these wonderful children this year, under different circumstances. It has been wonderful to see these children beaming with pride as they received their trophies. We could not be more proud of our Youths of the Month.” said Kevin Quevillon, executive director of the Boys &andGirls Club Portage County.
The club also recognized Community Award winners, including Business of the Year – Len Dudas Motors, Champions for Youth – Bob & Mary Berard, Volunteers of the Year – Emily Katz & Brian Will, and Community Partner – The Beloved Community Redeemer Lutheran Church.
“Close to 50 vehicles with family members drove through the hangar. As the families entered the event, there was a jet parked in the background, cheering Boys and Girls Club staff, and a red carpet for each Youth of the Month to take a picture in front of a prestigious banner of recognition,” the release added.
