Pointers sweep Multis

WHITEWATER – The UW-Stevens Point track and field team won 18 events, including a sweep of the multis, at the Warhawk Invitational and Multi.
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale) won the heptathlon with a score of 4558, the fourth-best score in school history.  She won the long jump on day two with a distance of 5.31 meters (17’ 5.25”.)
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire) won the shot put and the hammer throw.  She won by nearly a full meter in the shot with a distance of 12.62 meters (41’ 5”).  In the hammer, her victory was by almost 10 meters over the runner-up with her distance recorded at 52.18 meters (171’ 2”).
Adrienne Lewis Kimberly) and Shannon Nelson (Franklin) won sprints events.  Lewis clocked a top time of 12.66 to win the 100-meter dash.  Nelson took top honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.41.
Chrissy Hughes (Milton) was victorious in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.17.  Taylor Fuerstenberg (Sussex) crossed at 2:19.54 to win the 1500-meter run.
UWSP’s team of Elle Maculan (Rockford, IL), Leyna Herzog (Appleton), Ashley Spatz (Sheboygan Falls) and Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay) placed first in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:59.73.
On the men’s side, Nick Chesterman (Sun Prairie) catapulted to the lead to win the decathlon with a score of 6491, the sixth-best score in program history.  He won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:48.00 and tied for first in the pole vault at 4.05 meters (13’ 3.5”.)
The Pointers won all the throws.  Alex Poncelet (Hastings, MN) finished first in the hammer throw and the javelin throw with distances of 57.22 meters (187’ 9”) and 48.70 meters (159’ 9”), respectively.  Blake Orr (Waupaca) won the discus throw with a distance of 44.75 meters (146’ 10”). Dylan Delaney (Sauk Prairie) took first in the shot put with a throw of 14.28 meters (46’ 10.25”).
UWSP won both hurdles events.  Omena Onomakpome (Hobart, IN) crossed the line at 15.01 to win the 110-meters hurdles.  Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc) took first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.99.
Sam Welch (Manawa) won the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.36.  He teamed with Schrang, Braedon Gilles (Middleton) and Evan Torgerson (Weston) to win the 4×400-meter relay in a time of 3:20.36.
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, MN) won the triple jump for the second-straight meet with a distance of 14.71 meters (48’ 3.25”.)
