Plover-Whiting receives new playground

PLOVER — Plover-Whiting Elementary School, 400 Hoover Avenue, is getting new playground equipment this June. The installation will take place on June 10-11, and the new gear will be fully installed and open to the public on June 12.
“The PTO has done a ton of work, they have done amazing things and everyone in the community really stepped up to make this happen,” said Principal Angela Hintz.
Funding for the project came from the 2019 Plover-Whiting RACE for education event, which raised $28,000 for projects. The RACE is Plover-Whiting’s only yearly fundraising project, designed to help fund school projects while not overwhelming families and the community with multiple fundraising efforts.
“We raised enough money last year to have a second large playground structure added again to our playground,” said PTO member Jodi Rentfrow.
The new playground features climbing areas, a balance bar, and spinning-wheel monkey bars. Students had a chance to vote on the color of the new playground equipment last February, Hintz said the results were clear.
“The students voted to have the playground be our school colors. So the entire thing will be teal and purple,” she said.
