PLOVER – Village Administrator Dan Mahoney spoke to Gazette staff on all things Plover. This week, Mahoney touched on new pickleball courts, and Lake Pacawa updates.
Lake Pacawa Update
Village leaders approved plans for a 12-court pickleball facility to be installed on the recently acquired land south of Lake Pacawa Park as part of the park’s master plan. The Heart of Wisconsin Pickleball Association is spearheading the fundraising efforts for the project.
“They are looking at hosting large state tournaments, so it was a good location with the eating, drinking, and hotels nearby,” Mahoney said. Fundraising for the project is expected to start sometime after the completion of Lake Pacawa Phase 2 updates, slated to run until mid to late summer. Construction is expected to start in 2022.
Village seeks funding for Lake Pacawa Project
Village leaders are seeking corporate and private sponsors for Lake Pacawa phase two installations. The village did a soft launch for their fundraising efforts last April, but Mahoney said the village doubled down this June.
The village is seeking $2.2 million in funding and has already reached 0ver $500,000 at the time of writing. Phase two updates include a splash pad, accessible playground, water improvements, and more. Construction on some aspects of the project will continue this summer.
