For the City Times
PORTAGE COUNTY – The Portage County Sheriff’s Office and the Stevens Point Police Department will be participating in a multijurisdictional traffic safety task force geared toward decreasing crashes and obtaining voluntary compliance with traffic laws.

The enforcement period will be June-August 2021.

“In an effort to increase highway safety, officers from both agencies will be increasing traffic contacts during the summer months. Primary enforcement will focus on speed violations, aggressive driving, unrestrained occupants, and OWI laws,” a sheriff’s office release stated.

“The objective of the task force is to decrease the number of targeted violations, related traffic crashes, and to increase voluntary compliance with traffic laws thereby decreasing fatalities and serious injuries on Portage County roadways.”
