Rally for Iola set for September
By Taylor Hale
PORTAGE COUNTY – The Rally for Iola is returning this Sept. 18.
“When the Iola Car Show was canceled in 2020, the staff held a car cruise to celebrate all things cars. This cruise brought in over 1,000 cars that traveled through surrounding communities. This showcase was a treat for Waupaca County – most volunteers are local and without the Iola Car Show, they could enjoy the car cruise. It was such a ‘feel-good’ event that it will happen again,” said Iola Car Show Executive Director Joe Opperman.
This year’s event will feature a new route for participating drivers to show off their cars to surrounding communities. A map of the new route can be found online.
“This route will take participants south to Scandinavia, west through Amherst and Arnott, then north to Ellis, east through Polonia, Rosholt, Big Falls, and Little Falls, then south to Helvetia, and finally back to the Iola Car Show grounds for food and music,” Opperman explained.
This year will also feature a flea market featuring non-auto-related items. The event kids off at 7 a.m., with the cruise starting at 10 a.m. For a full schedule of events, visit iolaoldcarshow.com.
