For the Gazette
STEVENS POINT – Skyward dominated the course to win the 16th Annual Plover Veterans of Foreign Wars Golf Scramble on Sept. 11.

The winning team was awarded an artillery shell-styled traveling trophy in a ceremony at the Post.

Team members’ names will be engraved upon the trophy and include Nick Cappotto, Rick King, Ben Lind and Jerry Lind.

The team also received a round of golf for four with carts from Wisconsin River Golf Club and each member received a dozen golf balls.

Twenty-five teams participated in the fundraising scramble at the Wisconsin River Golf Club, which kicked off at noon. The event featured special hole challenges, a banquet dinner and basket raffles.
Funds raised will be used for local area veteran needs and community support.
