Women’s golf moves up to eighth at the Whitewater Invite

JANESVILLE – The UW-Stevens Point women’s golf team finished eighth after the second-round play of the two-day tournament at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite. The team shot a total of 721, dropping nine total team strokes to pass Viterbo for eighth.

The Basics

Tournament: UW-Whitewater Fall Invite

Location: Riverside Golf Course

UWSP: 8th of 13 teams

Top UWSP Individual: Bree Downie (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) drops to 14th shooting a total 164 and a team best.

Notables: Jenny Marshall (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) dropped 12 strokes off her opening round to place 36th.

Tournament Highlights

Top Team: Carthage College won the invite with a team total of 635. Carthage had each individual player within top 20.

Top Individual: Markie Ash of UW-Platteville won the invite by shooting 147.

The Pointers next invite is at Clifton Highlands GC for the UW-River Falls Invite. Tee time set for 1:00 p.m. on Friday (Oct 1).
