Tuesdays with the Mayor
By Taylor Hale
STEVENS POINT – Mayor Mike Wiza sat down with Gazette staff to give an update on Stevens Point developments. This week, Wiza touched on his recent mayoral appointments, a new room tax grant, and more.
Wiza made his mayoral appointments during a special common council meeting on Sept. 30. New District 1 Alder Marc Christianson has been appointed to the boards that former alder Tori Jennings was seated on.
“We are appointing Marc to most of her committees.,” Wiza said. “Marc was a citizen member of the transportation commission before he was an alder, and he really liked that. So as an alderman he can’t serve in the citizen capacity, so he will be taking an aldermanic appointment.”
Alder Thomas Leek is stepping down from his role in the transportation commission, giving Christianson the opportunity to serve.
Wiza noted that no other major changes are occurring.
