STEVENS POINT – After 45 years of serving the Stevens Point Fire Department, Fire Chief Robert Finn is planning his retirement.
Finn announced his plans to retire during the police and fire commission on Oct. 5.
“I sent my letter to my [liaison] that I will be retiring on January 3, 2022.”
Finn served the Stevens Point Fire department for 14 years as a deputy chief then moved to assistant chief. Finn spoke about his retirement during the meeting but noted that he will have more words on the matter as his retirement date approaches.
“It was a tough decision, it wasn’t made quickly,” Finn said. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve alongside the men and women of this department and this community.”
Police Chief Tom Zenner noted that he was honored to serve alongside Finn, and is thankful for the time he gave back to the community.
“Bob is a true friend and has been an excellent resource to me for the last [few years],” Zenner said.
