PORTAGE COUNTY – On Oct. 10, at 3:44 p.m., the Portage County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a single vehicle traffic crash, with injuries, on Jordan Road in the Town of Hull. Portage County deputies, Portage County Ambulance, Hull Fire and Rescue, and a Life Link III Medical Helicopter were dispatched to the scene on Jordan Road, approximately 970 feet west of  Ed’s Drive.

Investigation revealed 24-year old Carson Makuski from Stevens Point was driving a 2014 Chevrolet pick-up truck eastbound on Jordan Road. Makuski failed to negotiate a slight curve and his truck left the  north edge of the roadway before striking a tree. Makuski was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated before being pronounced dead at the scene.

A 27-year old female passenger identified as Kelsey Studinski from Stevens Point was injured in  the crash. She was transported by Portage County Ambulance to Aspirus St. Michael’s Hospital  where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office  was assisted at the scene by Portage County Ambulance, Hull Emergency Medical Responders, Hull Fire and Rescue and the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office.
