AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary receives large local donations
For the Gazette
STEVENS POINT – Joan Sirek, AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary President received a check for $5,000 from Len Dudas Motors, 3305 Main St., to support the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, PA, a nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to build an understanding of the spirit and philosophy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights while ensuring that young Americans appreciate the sacrifices that were made to safeguard their freedoms. Sirek also received a check for $1000 from Todd and Becky Okray.
Sirek has been raising funds for the last year to purchase new windows for MacArthur Hall. The cost for each window to be replaced is approximately $1,000. MacArthur Hall is where the classroom and dining room are as well as the game room, gift shop, and 15 dormitory rooms. By replacing the windows, it will keep the utility bills down by keeping the cool air in the summer and the heat in the winter. Saving money from the utility bills will allow FFVF to fund more teachers and students for programs on American history and the Constitution.
Any one who donates $1,000 will be memorialized with a plaque to be placed on the window with their name on it.
